On May 14, 2016, I particpated in the Walk to Cure Arthritis at MetLife Stadium - part of my daughter Marcelle’s team.  The name of the team, Fibro Fighters, gives a hint as to why I have joined.

After traveling a very long and frustratingly uphill road (at least seven years), Marcelle was diagnosed with fibromyalgia.  Like arthritis, fibromyalgia can be a painful and often debilitating disease.  Also like arthritis, there is currently no cure.  The doctors who help both fibromyalgia and arthritis patients are rheumatologists.  In Marcelle’s case, the rheumatologist who had been guiding her is Dr. Yukiko Kimura, the Chief of Pediatric Rheumatology at the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center, who happened (ok, it’s no coincidence) to be the Medical Honoree at that year’s Walk to Cure Arthritis.

More than fifty million people, including 300,000 children, live with arthritis pain every day. That is one out of every five people who may have difficulty buttoning their shirt, tying their shoes or even picking up their child or grandchild. I want to make a difference in their lives, I want to make a difference in my own daughter’s life, so I joined the Walk to Cure Arthritis.

Please think of donating as well. Your donation helps people with arthritis to manage their disease, gain access to the critical medications they need to live full, healthy lives and benefit from cutting-edge research that provides better treatments today and promises a cure for tomorrow.

The Lexington New York City Hotel, Thursday, May 8th, 6pm to 7:30pm

On May 8th I had a reading, question-and-answer, wine-and-cheese event in the hotel's lobby library.  A fantastic evening and much appreciation for all those who came and enjoyed it along with me.

And, of course, much thanks to The Lexington New York City Hotel.  It's a beautiful boutique art deco hotel - a jazz-inspired Marriott "Autograph Collection" be found at 48th and Lexington.  Check it out:  www.lexingtonhotelnyc.com

The River Edge Public Library, Saturday, April 26th at 2pm

What a fabulous event!  A great representation - poetry, memoir, inspirational, medical - and, of course, one novel (that would be mine).  A packed and interested crowd, with great questions and enthusiasm.  Thanks so much to Daragh O'Connor for all the work it took to make it happen and for the sponsorship and efforts of The Friends!

Well Read New & Used Books, Sunday, March 23rd from 2pm to 4pm

This Speed "Dating" with Local Authors event, a first for the store, proved fun and inspirational, getting a chance not only to talk about and read from my own book but also to hear from other local authors as well.  Thanks to the Well Read Bookstore!

This wonderful bookstore is located at 425 Lafayette Avenue in Hawthorne, NJ.
